How long is it since the Legend of Dragoon came out? It first came out in 1999 in Japan, and then in 2001 in the West. Going by that first Japanese release, it's been 26 years since the game first came out, and we've never had an official sequel.

That's why gamers like Sir-Dev-A-Lot have dedicated years of their lives to creating new projects in the LOD universe to keep fans entertained. The Legend of Dragoon Demake has been ongoing for around five years now. He took the project on from Italian developer Flanvel during Covid 19 and has run with it ever since. creating a small team to bring this GBA-esque demake of the PS1 classic to life.

According to Sir-Dev-A-Lot on the game's official Itch.io page, 'the game [currently] covers all events from the original game leading up to the epic Urobolus boss fight in Limestone Cave, and this first public release was intended to take the player all the way up to exiting Limestone Cave like the original LOD PS1 demo.'

There's a snag, however. He goes on to explain that they have run into some problems with regards to sprite development regarding Urobolus's crawl animation. 'That's where we are currently stuck in development and instead of waiting any longer to finally release this publicly for all fans to dive into and enjoy we are just moving forward with the projects release here today.'

The general idea behind releasing the game in its current state as a 'work in progress' is to hopefully get someone on board who could help the team to get over this hurdle and complete the demake fully. So, if you have a Windows PC or Android phone and fancy giving the game a go with a view of pitching in to make it a reality, then hit up Sir-Dev-A-Lot and show him what you can do!
