How many of you have seen the Super Famicom Naizou TV SF1 or the Sharp TVs with the NES console built in? Don't worry if you haven't, because they're super rare and don't crop up very often. And when they do, they tend to go for extortionate prices.
It's the same with rare consoles too - when you can't buy the Xbox promo console worth $36,000, the only thing you can do is build your own. And when you can't get hold of rare console TVs, you do the same. That's exactly what a gaming fan from Taiwan has done, spending 5 years building consoles that combine the legendary Famicom and Super Famicom with a CRT, and they're available for fans to play at exhibitions right now.

Branded 'Oldtendo', they look just like the kind of thing you might have seen in a gaming store back in the day for shoppers to test out new titles. They're slick, all the same shape and size, and exude retro culture by the bucket load!

A Taiwanese retro-gaming fan spent 5 years building a setup of 4 real CRT TVs fused with classic consoles — so anyone can play for free at exhibitions.

Everyone told him to use LCDs. He refused.
It’s not for sale — it’s a love letter to retro gaming culture. 💾❤️#Oldtendo pic.twitter.com/BBPCncPodb
According to a post on X, the creator was determined to fuse the consoles with original CRTs as a 'love letter' to retro gaming past. The consoles have a mixture of wireless and wired remotes. The games slot in the front of each of the four consoles so you can see the artwork while gaming, and I would love to have one for my desk so I could procrastinate even more!
Sadly, there are only 4 available and none of them are for sale. Still, maybe in the future, if the design process can be streamlined, we might be reviewing one here at Retro Dodo for you. Watch this space!
