The annual CES 2023 event has officially started today in Las Vegas, and Sony kicked their presentation off with some pretty awesome info about Gran Turismo content coming very soon.
The CES event is focused on technology as a whole, and Sony has quite a lot of branches in the technology sectors. So their keynote presentation touched on a wide range of subjects.
Heck, they even announced that they are making an electric vehicle called ‘Afeela’ with Honda. Does it come with a PS5 in it though?
Obviously, we were most interested in the video game related content, which was actually a significant portion of their presentation.
They touched on the Last of Us television series, which is due to premiere on January 15th. They also briefly mention that both a God of War and a Twisted Metal series are in development.
Gran Turismo Movie
Perhaps the most exciting adaptation that they covered was the Gran Turismo movie, which will be directed by Neill Blomkamp and stars Archie Madekwe, Orlando Bloom, and David Harbour.
If you’ve ever seen a Neill Blomkamp film, you know that he produces movies that are insanely exciting and action packed.
I was quite surprised to see him working on the Gran Turismo film, and it has me very interested.
It was cool to hear Neill Blomkamp talk about actually using Sony cameras to make the film and adapting some of the iconic views from the video game franchise into the film.
The Gran Turismo movie is due to hit theaters on August 11, 2023 and will surely be a wild ride.
Playstation VR2
Another large focus of the Sony presentation was the new Playstation VR2, which launches on February 22, 2023.
Over thirty games are currently set to be available at launch, including Horizon: Call of the Mountain, No Man’s Sky, and Resident Evil Village.
And, keeping with the theme of the event, Grand Turismo 7 is also getting a free VR upgrade.
The PSVR2 is available to purchase on the Sony website right now for $549.99.
Conclusions
It’s pretty exciting to hear Sony talk about the new projects they have in development, even those outside of the video game genre.
We heard about a car, PSVR2, Sony film and television projects, and Sony’s plans to create more interactive experiences in the future.
The whole event had a bit of a car theme. Fans of Gran Turismo will surely be excited about the Sony presentation at CES 2023, and we enjoyed watching the entire keynote presentation.
