How many of you know about Smash Remix? They’ve been making Smash Bros 64 Mod patches that being new characters to the classic character roster since 2019, giving us much more choice than the original 12.

Hang on, slow down a minute Seb. ‘Smash Remix‘… what’s this all about?

Well, the Smash64 Online team has been making patches to use on your own legally required ROMs for years now, giving the classic N64 brawler a new lease of life.

And their latest patch has brought characters from even. more of the best N64 games to the battlefield!

The bumbling Ebisumaru and everyone’s favourite Bear & Bird duo Banjo-Kazooie join the roster of characters available for players to fight with.

And that’s not all, there’s also Metal Luigi and the Dragon King available to play as, as well as lots of other characters from previous patches such as Goeman, Peppy Hare, Dark Samus, and many more!

As you can imagine, this is a copyright nightmare, and I’m surprised that Nintendo hasn’t come knocking on the team’s door already to stop them in their tracks.

This could be the reason why the official Smash Remix YouTube channel seemingly went AWOL for a short time, though it seems to be back up and running now. According to a tweet we spotted over on Nintendo Life, the Smash Remix team are incredibly happy to have all of their fans comments returned for all to see as well as their impressive trailer videos.

Even if you’re not planning on downloading the patches, you should definitely give them a watch!

One of the things I’ve always loved about that original game is that you never had to think too much about which character you wanted to use. Still, even I can’t deny how cool it would be to play as Banjo with a host of new stages to conquer.

Look at Sonic chilling out with Conker in the back there. Someone should probably wake Yoshi and Kirby up though, that’s not a great way to great Ebisumaru and the gang, is it!

Who would you love to play as when revisiting Smash 64?

Heck, if we can get creative, I’d love to see Lupus from Jet Force Gemini playing in a level based on Mizar’s Palace. Now that would be something!
