It’s the 25th anniversary of Skies of Arcadia this year, and when a company files a new trademark for a game coming up to a big anniversary, fans understandably go wild. We haven’t had anything new from the series in so long, and yet despite that sad fact, the game still remains one of the best games for the Dreamcast and the GameCube. Personally, I think it’s about time that we saw a full-on remake of this game for modern audiences, and this year would definitely be the best time to do it!
Final Weapon reported that the trademark files were filed earlier this month on January 16th and then made public on the 24th. The fact that retro is bigger than ever right now and Sega are already focusing on their back catalogue after announcing new Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, and other titles at the Game Awards.
Sega have promised to create a grittier ‘rock and roll’ vibe in the gaming industry, and the die-hard SOA fans who have kept the series alive for 25 years will certainly be chomping at the bit to find out whether there’s a remake or a new title on the cards from Sega HQ.
