LylatWars (or Star Fox 64 if you're from the US) was one of my favourite N64 games. It wasn't just the fact that it came in the big box with the rumble pack or that the instruction booklet looked like a broadsheet newspaper. The gameplay was fantastic, and I'll never think of a Star Fox game without thinking about Peppy Hare telling me to do a barrel roll in my trusty Arwing.

From Jez San's input on Star Fox for the SNES to Star Fox Adventures on the GameCube and all the way to Starlink: Battle for Atlas on the Switch, the Arwing has been an integral part in Nintendo's gaming history, and thanks to LEGO Ideas user Xplorin_Bear, we now have a LEGO Arwing in the works that's slowly but surely garnering support to help make it a reality.

Like me, Xplorin_Bear has been influenced by Star Fox 64 on the N64 and spent hours looking up into space, wondering if an Arwing could possibly be real. I doubt he ever wanted Falco Lombardi to give him sarcastic quips, but then again, neither did I or anyone else I know, but the high-flying antics of Fox and the gang have led Xplorin_Bear to give us what LEGO and Nintendo have yet to provide - one of the greatest gaming crafts of all time in brick form.

The set comes complete with a miniature version of the man... I mean fox himself, Fox McCloud. The Arwing has rotating wings and movable air brakes (yep, time to get Barrell Rolling guys), as well as a laser cannon for shooting down enemies. At just over 39 cm wide and 45 cm long, it's an impressive piece that you can play with to your heart's content or display proudly on the included stand. It weighs around 750 grams mind, so be careful not to drop it on the dog's head when it does release.

As with all LEGO Ideas projects, there are certain milestones that must be met before the design goes in front of judges. This Arwing design has already surpassed the 1K mark and has 537 days to get to 5,000 votes. I think we could get it there in the next week if you guys show your support (it's just clicking a button to show you like it, that's it).

Let's make this LEGO Arwing a reality and have it up on shop shelves next to The Mighty Bowser and Sonic's LEGO Ideas set! Head to the Star Fox 64 - Arwing project page for more info and to show your support!
