16-bit gaming fans rejoice as Limited Run Games announces the glorious return of Sparkster aka Rocket Knight for the contemporary era in Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked.

Konami’s opossum-lead platformer made its debut on the Sega Genesis as Rocket Knight Adventures in 1993. The sequel for the Genesis, Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2, appeared the following year as well as the SNES iteration simply titled Sparkster.

Rocket Knight mixes elements of some of the best SNES and best Sega Genesis platforming titles from the 16-bit era like Mega-Man X, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Earthworm Jim.

Oh, and by the way, Rocket Knight Adventures took the number two spot on our best Genesis list right behind Sonic the Hedgehog 2. So that should show you just how great the game is!

Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked will feature the full Sparkster trilogy (Rocket Knight Adventures, Sparkster: Rocket Knight Adventures 2, Sparkster) in one convenient package.

Also with the added benefit of modern quality-of-life features like Rewind to undo any platforming mistakes, a Boss Rush Mode, and a unique Museum Mode featuring never-before-seen content.

Keep in mind that the games have not been remastered for widescreen support. They will be the same classic titles we know and love, now on current generation consoles.

Some of us are still playing Sparkster on original hardware or on one of our favorite handheld emulation devices, but this will be the first time we can actually play a Rocket Knight game on our Playstation or Switch.

You can’t get mad at that!

Pre-Order Information

Pre-orders for the Rocket Knight physical editions will only be open for one month, starting January 19th and closing on February 18th.

Why? Because they wouldn’t be “Limited Run Games” if they didn’t generate that fear of missing out in their releases. (And make you wait a year or so to get it!)

Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked will be available for PlayStation 4/5 and the Nintendo Switch in both standard and collector’s editions.

There’s also a bunch of awesome Rocket Knight gear available, like tshirts, pins, plushies, soundtracks, and a skateboard deck.

So, check in at the LRG website for more information and to see everything available!
