We're big fans of the Retroid Pocket Classic here at Dodo Towers. We put it through its paces in a review recently and gave it a solid 8.7 out of 10, citing it as 'a magical device and one you'll likely not need to upgrade for many years'. Sure, it could do with an analogue stick, but if you're using it to play the older retro consoles like the SNES or the Genesis/Mega Drive, then it's perfect.
Speaking of the Genesis, Retroid Pocket put up a post on X recently saying that if they received 350 likes on the picture of this Genesis-themed Classic 6 console, they would make it a reality. Obviously, they reached that milestone immediately, with a current count of 1,100 people showing their appreciation for the new style.

Setting the bar low was a smart idea and obviously means that Retroid Pocket have this design for the RP Classic 6 SG almost ready to go, and it looks incredibly stylish. Sure, I love the vibrant blue and yellow option of the 4-button classic variant, but playing Genesis games on this sleek black handheld and channeling the spirit of the 90s is going to make me even better at Sonic the Hedghog 2, right?
It's really nice that Retroid are keeping the public feeling like they're a part of the process with this console too; asking them for opinions on the colour of the start button in a recent poll was a nice touch for sure, and I hope that they're pretty speedy with the production of this console as we'd love to get our hands on one!
There is currently no information as to when the RP Classic 6 SG is going to be released, so keep an eye out here for more details as and when I get them!
