If you don't want to tackle Las Plagas alone or aren't feeling brave enough to sneak into the dark in case a Ganados is there ready to eat your brains out, then don't worry. There's now an open beta for a co-op mode where you can team up with a friend to take on the darkness.
Hey, I get it - zombies are scary. Resident Evil 4 is one of the greatest games of all time, but having a mate teaming up with you to laugh at you when you're screaming in fear makes it all feel a little nicer. But let's not forget how impressive this is too - don't forget that Resi 4 was only ever designed to be a two-player game, and now we've got synchronised enemy spawns across an online two-player campaign!

The simply titled 'Multiplayer Mod' comes to us from claybtv and allows for both players to share story progression in the main campaign. Every door, every item, every enemy attack is synced across both playthroughs - how awesome is that! Essentially, the game will play a little more like A Way Out, just with zombies eating you instead of inmates attacking you.

A modder known as claybtv has announced the launch of an open beta for a co-op mode in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Another exciting element is that there is support for different character models, meaning you can play as Leon and Wesker or two Ashleys while cooperatively exploring the map with your zombie-culling compadre.

Obviously, there are a few teething problems as the mod is still in open beta, but what I'm seeing is phenomenal. And the best bit is that I'm not alone in thinking this - the gaming community wants co-op Resi games! We don't have enough co-op games like this, and it shouldn't be down to modders to have to make it happen. If Capcom started releasing multiplayer patches for the other Resi remakes, it would be a dream come true!
