If you thought that hunting for bargains and interesting items was fun in the UK, then you've seen nothing until you've taken a trip to Japan. You might have seen Brandon's account of his recent trip to Akihabara to find Retro Gaming goodies, and while Hard Off wasn't one of the stores he managed to visit, you'll get an idea of the type of treasures that are on offer from his in-depth article.
Hard Off is the topic of today's news post, however, or moreover, the rare Game Boy BGB-001 display stand that someone has found on sale at their new Kanto branch. And no, there weren't lots of Pikachus and Clefairys blocking the aisle; I'm talking about the real Kanto on the island of Honshu.
X user LovelyPubbry posted a picture of this Game Boy kiosk on a recent trip to the newly opened Hard Off store in Kanto. As you can see from the sticker on the front, it has a price of Β₯2,200,000, which equates to around $15,000 or Β£11,000.

The cabinet is a perfect replica of the iconic Game Boy DMG, just enlarged as though Harry Potter had gotten hold of the handheld and cast engorgio on it. The idea behind the BGB-001 is that it would have a Game Boy attached to it via a cable, allowing people to play with the Game Boy and see the gameplay both on the handheld and up on the built-in screen.

It's a rare slice of Nintendo memorabilia that you could definitely use to show off your Game Boy collection or to keep your games safe and secure (hopefully they've still got the key to open it), but it's definitely an expensive bit of kit at $15,000!
