Powkiddy V90S Clamshell Handheld Enters Full Release After Pre-Sale Ends

Back in 2020, we cited the Powkiddy V90 as one of the best affordable handhelds on the scene. A lot has changed since then, especially since the arrival of the RG34XXSP and the RG35XXSP, and that's just ANBERNIC's offerings!

Powkiddy hoped to take back a slice of the action from ANBERNIC and Miyoo when they released the V90S earlier this month, which has now entered its full release period and is available over on AliExpress as well as the official Powkiddy website.

I look at the specs above, and I don't initially see any reason to buy the V90 over the RG34XXSP. 1GB of RAM here and a smaller battery size compared to 2GB of RAM in ANBERNIC's offering means that you've probably got to be a staunch Powkiddy fan to want this (or have just been traumitised so much by Miyoo's hinge debacle that you don't want to go back). Still, if you're looking for more of a classic GBA SP handheld akin to the RG35XXSP because you're not a fan of joysticks, then this will definitely be great for emulating all of your favourite GBA games.

Head to Powkiddy or AliExpress to get your hands on a V90S in transparent black, grey, yellow, or red. It's worth noting that the current price on AliExpress is slightly higher than on the Powkiddy website, with AliExpress listing the handheld for just under $54 with free shipping and Powkiddy's website showing $44.99 before shipping costs.
