You know the one - back before the Xbox released for gamers like me to get their grubby mitts on, Microsoft revealed a prototype console that was an actual X made from aluminium. It weighed 40lbs and looked incredible, and it was definitely a lot more impressive than the plastic console we ended up with.
It certainly made us all sit up and take notice of Microsoft and their intentions in the home console market, however, but it left us all wishing that this could have actually been the console that we took home with us.
Still, at $36,000, it wouldn't have been something I would have ever let out of my sight!

YouTuber and all-round genius creator Macho Nacho Productions has teamed up with friend of the Retro Dodo Podcast WeskMods to bring this mammoth creation to life, and in MNP's words 'made it better in every way'. Their replica console uses all real Xbox hardware inside and has been planned by both modders with impeccable detail.

Pictures of the shell being made by PCB Way make me feel like I'm a kid looking back at that first prototype all over again, and the fact that Macho Nacho Productions has a video that shows the console working and operational is a massive feat. The process of this replica coming to life is so exciting to watch, so check out the whole video from start to finish below!
