When a release trailer starts with 'what would Pokémon Diamond and Pearl look like if their development had taken a year longer', you know it's going to be good. It's a catchy thought, isn't it, that 'what if' scenario? I loved those games, but Aurum has come out with two new versions that aim to blow my experience with them out of the water.

It's the games you know and have played time and time again with new features, like an expanded storyline that brings more into the narrative, adding to the excitement of the Sinnoh region and increasing the number of available Pokémon you can catch from 151 up to 242.

Aurum has changed the game up to include new methods of evolving Pokémon, as well as 'carefully adjusting Pokémon typings' to mix things up in battles. You can rematch opponents and take part in new battles not in the original games, as well as battling Pokémon in Space Time Distortions!
Aurum started this amazing project back in the Autumn of 2023. According to the project's page, they wanted to create 'an enhanced experience of the original Sinnoh games by incorporating ideas from Pokémon Platinum Version and modern Pokémon games without straying from the artistic vision behind Diamond and Pearl'. Timeless and Spaceless refer to the contemporary gaming experience these new ROM hacks provide, and the way Aurum has pushed the limits of the original DS titles to the max.
