One thing I've realised through my work covering demakes here at Retro Dodo is that the retro gaming community loves the old school Pokémon games the most. It doesn't matter how many new games get announced or how good the graphics get, we all still yearn for more adventures from the golden age of Pokémon gaming.

And if there's one game that we can all rely on as being the basis for a ROM hack, it's Pokémon Emerald. Game dev blloop has taken Pokémon Platinum and given it the classic GBA treatment by building their demake in the GBA engine. It remains as true to the original story and feel of Pokémon Platinum as possible, but utilises that same graphics style that we've come to know and love from spending hours on games like Pokémon FireRed and Ruby.

Everything from Platinum has been lovingly recreated, and tracks from Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum have been included to create an ultra-authentic DS experience. The dev's work blloops work will also now allow other creators to create Sinnoh-based ROM hacks too, continuing the Pokémon God's work and bringing us more amazing stories to play through on the GBA.
The project currently allows games to get up to Route 202 just before Jubilife City. It's very much a work in progress, but I'm going to follow that progress closely and report back to you when the project is nearing completion!
Check out the progress so far on Hackdex, and take a look at our favourite Pokémon ROM hacks while you're here too!
