If you're anything like me and love everything to do with Pokémon, then you've no doubt been spending every waking minute on Pokémon Pokopia since it released last week. It's one of the cosiest games we've ever played, up there with Animal Crossing, and while it's not exactly retro and something we would cover extensively here on Retro Dodo, there's something I want to show you that will definitely scratch your nostalgic Nintendo itch.

X user Nintendúo has come across a very novel little feature in Pokopia for all of the original Red and Blue (or Red and Green) players out there. If you place two Nintendo Game Boys next to each other on a surface, they'll automatically join together with a link cable. How cool is that!

If you've never played Pokémon on Nintendo's early handhelds like the DMG, GBC, or GBA, then you won't have ever experienced the joy (or struggle) of sitting super close to each other and being tethered by a cable to trade Pokémon between systems. It might feel archaic if you're used to wireless connections, but that's how we did things back in the '90s and early '00s.

So there you have it, a little easter egg for all the OG Pokéfans out there. I'm sure that there will be many more throughout the game for us to find, but this one just made me feel very excited!

What else would you like to see from Nintendo history cropping up in this game? I just hope they don't include the wormlight anywhere - that thing still winds me up!
