Before you even begin playing Pokémon Heart and Soul, a great Pokémon ROM hack of Pokémon Emerald, you’re presented with an overwhelming amount of customisation options, giving you the chance to tweak an incredible number of game elements. This is fantastic, and gives you the chance to play the game your way, applying cheat-style options before you start. There’s plenty more to discover as you play Pokémon Heart and Soul too, but it’s these opening options which really make it feel like an experience you can personalise to your own preference.
We’ve also managed to test a number of cheats for Pokémon Heart and Soul, to refine the experience even further. You’ll need an emulator that supports code entry. These codes are even easier to use if your emulator can auto-detect code types. We did struggle to get Pokémon Heart and Soul working on Android using MyBoy!, but it ran flawlessly on Windows using mGBA. Codes can be entered, enabled and disabled with ease using this emulator, and it’s worth experimenting with different emulators to get it up and running on your device of choice.
How to Use Pokémon Heart and Soul Cheat Codes
This is the same advice that we’d give for any Pokémon cheats: remember to always save your game before applying any cheats, and for the best, most stable results, turn off all other cheats when applying and using a new one. As there are so many different combinations of codes possible, we can’t guarantee they’ll all work together as intended. In fact, we often have trouble ourselves when multiple cheats are used simultaneously, so it’s worth turning off as many as you can to use the latest one you want.
If you get stuck or the added cheats do crash or otherwise break your game, you can always go back to your save point. It’s important to remember to turn each added cheat off before saving again too, so that the chances of crashing or otherwise breaking your game by adding new code are reduced.
Do note that numerous versions of Pokémon Heart and Soul are available. All of the codes on this list have been thoroughly tested at Retro Dodo using the mGBA emulator, and each cheat’s section tells you how to make sure each cheat code functions as you need it to.
Be very careful with cheats for different versions of Pokémon Heart and Soul, or codes which we have not listed here; we found some which crashed our game, or didn’t work at all.
Buy Master Balls

This cheat will give you the option of buying up to 999 Master Balls at a time from any Poké Mart, for zero Poké Dollars. Note that the Master Ball’s name will not match the item, but the description does. When purchased and used, you do get the Master Balls and can use them normally:
- 82026AF4 0001
Buy Rare Candy Box

Though this will enable you to buy as many Rare Candy Boxes as you want from a Poké Mart, note that buying multiple Rare Candy Boxes may stop them from appearing in your bag. You only need 1 at a time (each one gives you 999 Rare Candies to use), anyway, so just bear this in mind. Just like the Master Ball, the name of the Rare Candy Box doesn’t match when you buy it, but the description does. It also won’t cost any money to purchase one:
- 82026AF4 00E3
Invincible Pokémon

There’s a catch with this cheat; though it makes your Pokémon entirely impervious to damage, it does the same for the opposing Pokémon too. So while this cheat is enabled, neither Pokémon will take any damage. Simply disable this cheat in order for damage to be applied as normal again:
- 820015A8 0000
One Hit KO Battles and Infinite EXP

Want to knock out any Pokémon in one hit? How about gaining infinite EXP after that one-hit KO? This code gives you both of those effects simultaneously; to stop levelling up, disable the cheat. Use this code:
- 820015A8 03E7
Note On Other Pokémon Heart and Soul Codes:
We have tried using a large number of other codes for Pokémon Heart and Soul, which we’ve seen elsewhere. However, for our versions of Pokémon Heart and Soul (we’ve been using the mGBA emulator to test these codes, and version 1.2.1 of Pokémon Heart and Soul), no other codes would work properly for us. Despite how many of them there are, no Item Modifier codes would work for us, for example. Therefore, we have not included these, or any other codes which wouldn’t work reliably (or at all) on this list.
