As a man of Italian descent, I thought CreepyPasta was some horror-based pasta shapes when I first heard about it a few years ago. But it has nothing to do with bat-shaped pasta or vampires with spaghetti fangs, however, and everything to do with internet horror stories, with many seemingly based on the world of Pokémon. I went down a rabbit hole with this earlier this year when I was writing about another ROM hack based on a super weird creepypasta tale, and now here I am again, walking right into Pokémon Ghost Grey Version for another pant-wettingly scary tale.

Pokémon Ghost Grey Version brings us to a version of Kanto in the year 2049. It has a brand new story, taking place in a Kanto that has gone to ruin. It's been 50 years since Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, and the land is now overrun with ghosts, broken people, and, for some reason, bad actors. I don't know what the game's creator joeyzeed has against actors, but that's a story for another day.

Ghost Grey has 200 ghost Pokémon to catch, with every existing Ghost-type Pokémon and 120 original regional variant critters to snap up, providing you're not afraid of paranormal activity, that is. This is, essentially, a ROM hack of FireRed with:
- a brand new storyline
- a full graphical overhaul
- new battle animations
- new items
- new areas to uncover
- a new soundtrack with over 130 new songs (nice work, Whale)
- Fairy-type Pokémon
- Items and abilities from more recent Pokémon games

Joeyzeed has added a dedicated level-grinding area into the game called, rather fittingly, The Fight Club, but I can't talk about that (it's rules one and two). Players can make use of unlimited HMs and TMs, as well as EXP boosting and ability changing items, and an improved Pokédex that shows you much more information and stats.

There are some type changes too - Steel resists Ghost (and there are a lot of Ghosts in this game), and Ghost vs Ghost damage has been reduced by 1.5x, just to name a few. And there are some awesome new moves like Purify, Shatterpoint, Soul Shift, and Jumpscare to pull out in battle too.
