If you're like me, modern Pokémon games just haven't scratched that nostalgic itch in years, and the recent release of Pokémon Z-A is the first Pokémon game I haven't completed, purely for the fact that it just didn't excite me, at all...
So over the last few years, I have been trying out many incredible Pokémon ROM hacks, and one name that keeps popping up in this space is Nemo622, the talented developer who created Pokémon Lazarus, a GBA ROM hack that was so good that it won an award in a recent Pokémon ROM hack competition.
Although Nemo622 is still working on Lazarus after the huge 2.0 update that recently went live, Nemo622 now has time to focus on the next big project, which is named Alolan Seaglass. This is huge news for anyone who loves exploring new Pokémon ROM hacks and even more so for those who enjoyed the previous ROM hack of his named "Pokémon Emerald Seaglass" which this may be an enhanced version of, or even a prequel/sequel, I am still unsure.

According to Nemo622 (the developer): Alolan Seaglass is a GBA Rom Hack taking place in a custom-built Alola Region, with GBC-like graphics like my other projects and plenty of changes I find fun (story changes, faster introduction, more Pokemon, etc).
Nemo622 has shared a few images to show off the theme, styling and menus. I must say, it looks incredibly colourful, and will likely follow Lazarus's beautiful graphical visuals, which won the award of "Best Graphics in a Pokémon ROM Hack" in 2026, so you know it's going to be a beauty.

There has been no release date mentioned, nor any kind of storyline teases, we only have the included images to go by. If you look closley you can see in the Adventure Log that there is a collection of Z-Crystals, indicating Pokémon will likely have powerful Z-Moves that can be used throughout your venture, alongside a large focus on bird Pokémon, as you can see from the start screen art and battle scene.
The battle scene has some very island-like borders, indicating again that this will likely have a tropical, island theme to begin with. So far, I am really digging the teasers, though my impatience is getting the better of me, and it will likely be in development for a fairly long time as it's being developed by a single person and things like this require time to produce. I'll keep you updated with progress, or feel free to join Nemo622's Discord Channel for more information.
