When it comes to peripherals, 8BitDo know how to grab us every time. Looking at their website feels like when we used to flip through the Argos catalogue as a kid and wish for all the cool gaming gear, with controllers, keyboards, and retro gadgets galore that we now own and play with on a regular basis. One of our favorite controllers to use when playing the Switch and in conjunction with their wireless Retro Receivers on our collection of retro consoles has entered the Black Friday chat, complete with a great carry case and a nice little discount to make you smile at the checkout.

The 8BitDo Pro 2 is so comfortable to hold. A combination of the PS1 and SNES controller design to look at, it’s an evolution of the SN30 Pro in terms of its shape with back buttons, a textured grip, and Hall effect joysticks for reliability when gaming. Connect it up to your PC, iPhone, Android, or Apple TV for use with retro emulators; it even connects up to Brandon’s Tesla for playing games while he’s parked up waiting for his family to arrive off the train.

Motion controls, turbo function, and a 20-hour battery life – what more could you want? The controller was $59.99, and now thanks to the Black Friday Sales on Amazon it’s down to $41.99 with a free travel case to protect your new purchase while heading back and forth to your friend’s houses. For UK and EU readers, the controller is currently sitting at £44.99 and €49.99 respectively without the carry case.

Reasons To Buy
  • A brilliant Pro Controller for Switch, laptops, and smartphones
  • It’s a reliable controller for playing retro games on emulators and using Retro Receivers
  • Perfect for people who travel regularly and need a rugged controller in a sturdy case

Avoid If
  • You’re looking for something with more back buttons like the Gulikit KK3 Max
  • You need a wired option (they do have one, so grab that instead)
