Can you remember back when we interviewed WeskMods about his involvement with the Nintendo Kawaii, a miniature-sized Wii console on a keychain that's the size of a Game Boy Cartridge? Well, his build partner YveltalGriffin has recently posted that work on the Kawaii has finally finished, and it's looking incredible!
I first reported on the Kawaii almost a year ago after recording a Podcast Episode with WeskMods (which you can listen to at the end of this article) about the mission to make the world's smallest functioning Wii. Along with @haoxuanding2, the trio have finally finished the 6cm x 6cm x 1.6cm console and released it open source to the rest of the world.
I'm stoked to have finally finished the Kawaii, a fully functional metal Wii keychain. It's way smaller than it looks— only as big as a Game Boy cartridge! ✨🟦✨

Huge thanks to @WeskMods and @haoxuanding2 for being awesome project partners! https://t.co/OdAUiH1z3k pic.twitter.com/CcLCLpbc1T
'Yes, there really is an entire Wii inside!' says YveltalGriffin, 'It plays GameCube games beautifully. The magnetic dock breaks out analog audio, component video, and four GC controller ports.'
WeskMods added 'If you're brave enough to build one, you'll have one of the most unique pieces of gaming jewellery ever.' You'll certainly need a steady hand and keen eyes when it comes to putting a Kawaii together, that's for sure, but imagine the possibilities for portable gaming when it comes to taking this round to your friends' place for some Multiplayer GameCube & Wii Action!
