I spent a lot of time playing Yoshi's Story as a kid. I have the game on the shelf above me as I'm writing this article, so believe me when I say that I know it inside out. So when a new game featuring Yoshi and a talking book that he has to dive into appeared on the Nintendo Switch Direct, I knew that I was in for a real treat.

This game feels very much like a spiritual successor to the N64 classic, with the same dandelion faces, colourful Yoshi's, and the cutesy feel of Yoshi games that we've come to know and love.

The premise of the game seems to be moving around levels to find and study new creatures to create a sort of Pokédex. You'll need to discover creatures and fill in the magical book, and you'll need to remember the properties of different creatures and items to be able to progress. It's also been described as 'a page-turning adventure' by the Nintendo Direct voiceover guy - what more links to Yoshi's Story do we need!

The game is releasing in Spring 2026 - keep your eyes peeled for more information as and when I get it!
