One of the craziest handhelds to be teased this year is the GAMEMT EX5 ModX handheld, a mouthful I know, but that said, it's a retro handheld emulator with a detachable display, matched with accessories such as a Magsafe adapter to use the controls with a smartphone on the go, creating this hybrid between a capable handheld wiht a display, with an adapter to take advantage of the full array of controls.
The display is also inside a CNC metal shell, offering a premium touch, with an added kickstand on the back to go full Nintendo Switch mode with friends who also connect a Bluetooth controller.
GAMEMT has made some very questionable handhelds in the past, none making their way into our best retro handhelds list, for a reason. But this is the first time they've teased a device that has intrigued me due to the unique features, wide controls, big display and metal body (which I am a sucker for).

This video was shared by Royibeila, an online store that sells retro handhelds. They usually get information before the public due to their business connections, and were the brand that revealed this device to the world before GAMEMT themselves. So this video comes with a hint of credibility.
It shows the shell of the EX5 Modx, which may also be metal. It reveals a look at the button cutouts, the metal display, the shoulder buttons, a brief look at the kcikstand and an overall look at the upcoming metal edition.
With this video, text was shared with the statement "The E5X Modx is already in the testing phase, and I think it will be available to everyone very soon". Giving off the vibe that this will be available to pre-order soon, likely starting in China and then making its way to us Western folk.
A new promotional video has also been shared, indicating that the production side is on schedule. No extra information has been revealed, but it gives a better look at the product alongside the announcement that the controller part will be able to sync with Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android and PC.
Though I am waiting for news regarding its specifications, as this looks like it has enough screen real estate and controls to enable it to emulate larger consoles comfortably, but we've seen it time and time again where the specs don't match controller potential. So I'd love to see good PS2 performance on here, even if it makes it a premium price tag, which I believe it will be, seeing as it's made with metal.
Only time will tell. The best way to keep updated with this device is by joining our free weekly newsletter. We'll be keeping a close eye on this handheld, that's for sure.
