While the Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5 are bringing out remakes and remasters, it's the N64 that's delivering the good with regard to new games. Yes, you read that right - my favourite console from the 90s is getting new, boxed games in 2026, and I couldn't be happier.

Fullset describe themselves first and foremost as Neo Geo devs, but they've released their two new games on Neo Geo AES/MVS, Dreamcast, Sega Saturn, and the N64. And the best bit is that, even if you don't have the Analogue 3D or the M64, you can pick up a copy for your original N64, no matter what region you're in, complete with the correct corresponding cardboard box style.

So what are these new games? Well, the first one is called Overserved: Food Fighters, a game described by Fullset as being like 'Saturn Bomberman meets Smash TV'. After watching footage and checking out multiple screenshots, it looks wild, and that's without the 8-player crossplay across all of the consoles I mentioned above, as well as Xbox, PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, tvOS, and Android.

Yes, 8-player crossplay on the N64. We're living in strange times, especially when you consider that you can update the game cart over WiFi.

Players can choose from very cute-looking anthropomorphic animals with special abilities as they look to take each other out in multiplayer battles. There are 8 arenas to battle through in the ultimate food fights, and yes - it's gonna get messy!

Then there's Project Neon, a 1-2 player game with co-op mechanics. It's a game that has touches of Project S-11 and other vertical shooters about it and feels very much like how you would expect a Neo Geo shooter to feel, with Metal Slug-esque graphics, explosive action across fast-paced levels, and lots of lasers.

Both games come in cardboard boxes with full-colour artwork, manuals, digital copies of the soundtracks, and wallpapers for your phone/laptop. The only downside is that they're not cheap!

Overserved: Food Fighters and Project Neon both cost AU$149, which is around £78/$104. They're more expensive than a Nintendo Switch 2 game and undoubtedly have fewer features. Still, can you put a price on nostalgia? I'll let you decide!
