After the fun I had making my LEGO Game Boy DMG at Christmas, it got me wondering whether LEGO would bring out more handhelds from Nintendo's range for us to put together and display proudly on our desks and in our game rooms.
But for the moment, it's left to the retro gaming community to come up with the goods and create the sets that we spend far too much time dreaming about. Take Reddit user MaSKee, who has taken the LEGO Game Boy set and, with the help from a few 3D printed pieces, created a working LEGO GBA SP that's been shown playing DOOM.
I know what you're thinking, another thing that can play DOOM. But it's the ultimate test, right? If you create something as amazing as this LEGO GBA SP, then it's kind of a right of passage, isn't it?

MaSaKee has 3D printed a few elements like the D-pad, the border around the screen, the power switch, and the brightness wheel. The rest is LEGO, with the internal gubbins from the GBA bringing everything to life.
It's an impressive feat, and while it's not as easy to put together as the BrickBoy add-on for the LEGO Game Boy, I can imagine a quicker, solderless workaround could be its way very soon. Nintendo and BrickBoy; if you're reading this, get in touch with MaSaKee and make this set happen!
