Modder Creates Tiny Collectible 3.5″ Sony PVM Monitor

A new Custom 3.5″ LCD IPS Micro PVM Monitor is delivering strong GameCube vibes thanks to its purple paintjob.

Created by design artist JC Ayala, the talented miniature maker has crafted faithful recreations of the classic Sony PVM Trinitron Colour monitors under the brand Retroldtech.

While not currently available to purchase, JC Ayala revealed on Instagram that the purple version of their Micro PVM Monitor is ‘highly likely’ to feature in their next batch of production models.

Anyone eyeing up one of these mini monitors might not have too long to wait for that new batch either. Replying to comments on the Micro PVM Monitor reveal post, JC Ayala is hopeful that preorders for the new purple version will become available sometime in April 2024.

The attention to detail on Retroldtech’s miniscule display is supremely impressive, especially when compared with a full size PVM monitor such as the Sony PVM-14M2U shown above.

Of course, while the Micro PVM Monitor may look the part, the 3.5″ LCD screen is a huge technological leap over the CRT displays of the past.

If Retroldtech’s other diminutive displays are anything to go by, it’s also likely this new piece will feature decent stereo sound and dual speakers.

More Than Mini Monitors

JC Ayala’s creations make use of 3D printing technologies from Elgoo and include some wonderfully detailed homages beyond the Micro PVM Monitor.

Through Retroldtech, JC Ayala has produced mini versions of some of videogaming’s’ most iconic consoles and handhelds.

Nintendo fans in particular seem well catered for with a variety of miniature display pieces based on everything from the original NES and Game Boy to tiny recreations of the Game Boy Advance and a cute and dinky GameCube.

Not to be left out though, enthusiasts of Sony, SEGA, Microsoft and more will find petite models of their favourite consoles within JC Ayala’s portfolio.
