There has been a string of classic N64 games heading to PC of late, thanks to the release of the N64recomp tool. It started with Majora's Mask, followed closely by one of my favourite games, Mystical Ninja starring Goemon. It's even been used to bring unreleased games like Dinosaur Planet to the masses too, so it was only a matter of time before one of the greatest racers of all time received an unofficial PC version.
This fan-made Mart Kart 64 port was created by Harbour Masters, who you will have heard me talk about in the other PC-port articles linked to above. Their newest addition, 'SpaghettiKart', must have been named in homage to Mario's Italian heritage, and it provides gamers with legally acquired ROMs of Mario Kart 64 to experience the game on their PCs in 120 FPS with 4K graphics.
What's more, there's an ultra-wide mode as you can see in Andy Robinson's X Post below. Posted by Andy on VGC, the game includes a track builder and other features, such as the ability to manually control the camera and make your computer counterparts even trickier to beat.

As this project requires users to have legally sourced ROMs of Mario Kart 64 and there have been no copyrighted assets used as a means for personal gain, I can't see Nintendo being too bothered about this. Hopefully, they'll be too busy with Mario Kart World and the global Moo Moo racing sensation that has swept every nation to have time to go after recompiled games for a while.
Ultra-wide mode looks crazy; I don't even have a screen this big, but what would it gain? Would I see more Moo Moos or have more time to watch shells coming at me before they obliterate me? Still, it looks incredibly cool either way, and you should definitely let me know if you're planning to play it this way on your PC in the comments below!
