Ice Type Pokemon Weaknesses & Resistances Guide

If you’re looking to use Ice Type Pokemon in your team, then you’ll need to know all about the Ice type Pokemon Weaknesses & Resistances to look out for before going into battle.

Hey, if you fail to prepare, then prepare to fail. Pokemon battles are unforgiving places, and Ice Type Pokemon are a bit like trying to carry an exquisite China bowl from the Ming Dynasty barefoot over a bed of spikes.

Some of their moves are incredibly, and forgive me for using a terrible joke, but they’re some of the coolest characters in the world of Pokemon.

Yeah I know it’s terrible, but I had to say it!

So, let’s jump right in and check out all the Ice type Pokemon Weaknesses & Resistances today so that you can square up against trainers with confidence!

Ice Type Pokemon Weaknesses

Ice Type Pokemon Weaknesses & Resistances - Groudon and Charizard

Ice Type Pokemon are weak against Fighting, Fire, Rock, and Steel type Pokemon.

When it comes to Ice Type Pokemon, they’re weak to things that you can use to smash Ice or melt them.

Fire is obviously going to melt through Ice, so that’s always going to be a given. Rock Slide, Meteor Mash, and Cross Chop will also prove incredibly fatal to Ice types, so basically hide them whenever you see the types listed above heading out onto the field.

Ice Type Resistances

Ice Type Pokemon sadly are only resistant to other Ice type Pokemon.

I’ve got to admit, this is a real shame as they look like they have so much potential when you see the likes of Abomasnow and Articuno hitting the battlefield in a blizzard frenzy.

So, they’re not the best when it comes to defending against other types then… maybe not ones for having at the top of your team then!

Ice Type Strengths

Ice Type Pokemon Weaknesses & Resistances - Strengths

Ice type Pokemon are strong against Flying, Dragon, Ground, and Grass type Pokemon. That makes them perfect for going up against the likes of Pidgeot, Eternatus, Mudsdale, and Rillaboom!

Obviously, things get a little complicated once you start to look further into type weaknesses and strengths in greater detail. Dragon Pokemon are only weak against Dragon Pokemon, for example.

So, if you have Ice and Dragon type Draxcalibur in your team (right-hand-side of our featured image), it will be strong against Dragon types but also weak against them.
