How To Surf In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet (The Easy Way)

how to surf in pokemon scarlet violet

Surfing has played a huge part in Pokemon games, it lets you discover places that were originally impossible to explore.

The same happens in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, some areas of the region are impassable, and the only way to get there is by travelling across water.

Like other Pokemon games, this is usually left to unlock deeper into the game, but you’ll be pleased to know that it’s possible to get quite early on in Scarlet & Violet.

How To Surf In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

To learn surf in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet you must defeat the Open Sky Titan (Bombirdier) located West Province (Area One) towards the west, high up on a large cliff.

The Open Sky Titan should typically be your third or fourth Titan to defeat, but they can be skipped entirely and once beat, you can still learn surf even without beating the other titans.

But we advise against that, as the Open Sky Titan is high level and requires a team with Pokemon around level 30 to be defeated easily.

Once you have defeated the Open Sky Titan your Miraidon/Koraidon will want a bit of your newly crafted super sandwich (this is not the official name, just something the Retro Dodo team calls it) which will teach it the ability to surf.

Surf can be used by simply riding Miraidon/Koraidon onto water, it will automatically adjust to the terrain and allow you to move across water with ease.

You can also use your boost feature which is obtained when defeating your first Titan or once you slay the Stony Cliff Titan.
