How To Get To Kanto In Pokemon Gold & Silver

how to get to kanto in pokemon gold

In this quick and easy-to-follow guide, we will show you how to get to Kanto in Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Pokemon Gold and Silver are considered some of the best Pokemon games ever created. They tie in very nicely to the events that unfold in Red and Blue. We even get to see the beloved trainer Red once again and also visit the iconic region of Kanto!

But as the game is pretty old at this point and drops every subtle hint on what to do next. Many players get stuck at some places. And it looks like you’re stuck trying to find a road to Kanto! Don’t worry; we’ll walk you through the entire process of reaching Kanto and making your way to the elite four!

Prequisites

In Pokemon Gold, just like any other Pokemon mains series game. You have to earn a fixed number of badges to take on the elite four and eventually the Champion. In Gold and Silver, the region you play in first is the Johto region which has eight gyms. You have to win every gym badge to get to the Indigo Plateau in Kanto!

So make sure you win every single badge first. Also, this isn’t needed in Kanto, but you’ll need it to get to the Indigo Plateau eventually. I’m talking about the HM, Waterfall, which is used to cross Tohjo Falls in Pokemon Gold.

On defeating the last gym leader, you’ll get the ability to use Waterfall outside of battle. This will allow you to flow up and down an elevator in Pokemon Gold. And that’s all you need to reach Kanto!

How to get to Kanto in Pokemon Gold and Silver

Head home to New Bark Town, the place where you started your journey. When you arrive in this town, you can talk to your mother and see what she is up to. But make sure you go talk to Professor Elm; he will give you the master ball capable of catching any Pokemon, even legendaries.

Once you meet your in-game Mom and the Professor, you can head out for the region of Kanto. Go to the east side of the town, the waterbody next to your house. You can now access this place which was earlier not possible. Use surf and start surfing towards the eastside. Following the route laid down for you, the game is the way to go. Just go where the water takes you.

You’ll eventually see a shore where an NPC will be standing. As soon as you land on the shore, the NPC will hurry up to you. He’ll tell you that you’ve just landed in the region of Kanto! And he’s stating the truth, with this journey, you have officially made it to the Kanto region.

Kanto

But that’s not enough; you probably want to go to the Indigo Plateau to fight in the Pokemon League. Just follow this simple guide to reaching the Indigo Plateau –

Once you defeat the elite four and the Champion, you can access the Kanto region. You’ll eventually meet the legendary trainer Red as well, who is chilling on a mountain waiting for a worthy contender; go there and defeat him.

The Kanto Region is like a brand new game. You’ll be able to catch new Pokemon, battle trainers and do a lot of cool things once you reach Kanto. Not to mention the nostalgia you’ll feel after stepping into the region you once conquered.

We wish you luck in your future endeavors in the Kanto region and if you need more help in Pokemon Gold, be sure to check out how to get to Pewter City in Pokemon Gold!
