How To Fish In Fire Emblem Engage

I know the Fell Dragon is back, which means the world needs saving, but there’s so many other cool activities to experience – like fishing! That’s why I’m going to tell you how to fish in Fire Emblem Engage.

You may be wondering why you need to fish…? Well, I’ll tell you: it’s to get ingredients to cook with.

And yes, while you can get fish from some of the animals you adopt, you’ll only get one or two at a time.

Considering meals are a great way to replenish HP, and improve Support Bonds, it’s worth taking the time to learn how to fish so you’re not waiting around for ingredients.

Besides, if nothing else, it’s a great way to unwind after taking down hordes of the Corrupted. As important as it is to understand all Classes in Fire Emblem Engage, it’s also important for Alear to get some R&R.

How To Fish In Fire Emblem Engage

To fish in Fire Emblem Engage, cast your rod using the A button, then press A again to hook it. Use the L thumbstick to pull the fish in the opposite direction, then repeatedly hit the A button to lower its endurance. When its endurance depletes, complete a QTE to catch it.

Although you now know the basics, there’s a few extra details you should be aware of:

Fishing in Fire Emblem Engage won’t unlock until you recruit Prince Diamant in Chapter 9: A Clash of Forces

Secondly, you can fish with Sommie, The Somniel Guardian. I affectionately named my companion Pudding, and while he doesn’t do much other than cheer me on, his little face is always a happy sight.

Last but not least, there’s three different rods to collect if you’re to be the best fisher in The Somniel!

The three fishing rods of Fire Emblem are:

  • Modest Rod
  • Sturdy Rod
  • Supreme Rod

You’ll be gifted the Modest Rod when you unlock fishing. However, as the name suggests, this is a basic rod that can only catch a small number of fish.

To get an upgrade, you need to purchase the Sturdy Rod from the Flea Market that opens in Chapter 12: The Sentinels.

However, the Sturdy Rod won’t be in stock until you reach Chapter 16: Seashore Travels

The Supreme Rod doesn’t unlock until Chapter 21: The Return (which is quite close to the end of the game). Revisit the Flea Market to see its new items and you’ll be able to purchase it.

After all that fishing, you might be a bit wet, so why not learn how to change outfits in Fire Emblem Engage to freshen up your look? Or the smell, if nothing else.
