Can you remember the first time you went up against Psy-Crow? How about the first time you laid eyes on Princess What's-Her-Name, or used a cow launcher? Earthworm Jim is still one of my favourite games to this day, and I will never forget the first time I played it on the Mega Drive in the 90s and experienced his weird and wonderful world.

I've gotta say, I preferred Earthworm Jim 2 to the original, but then again, I prefer Sonic 2 to his first game aswell - they perfected the formulas with the second releases, clearly! And now, LEGO Ideas user lem.designs has turned Earthworm Jim into a LEGO masterpiece, taking the worm we first saw back in 1994 and giving him a spot in the blocky limelight. It captures his appearance, character, and expression operfectly, right down to the colours on his super suit and decorative elements taken from New Junk City - there needs to be a Cow warning sign when Jim is around!

Obviously, this concept is designed to be a display piece as opposed to something that your kids would play with, but you can still move Jim's head, neck, arms, and legs to put him in a stance of your choosing before placing up on your shelf for all the world to see!:

'My favourite part of the build was designing Jim's head and finding ways to recreate his cartoonish expression using LEGO elements. Capturing that unmistakable look was the biggest challenge of the project and ultimately the most rewarding part of the design process.' lem.designs, LEGO Ideas.

I think every retro gamer has probably spent some time in Earthworm Jim's world at some point during their lives, even if it was jusat watching the cartoon series inbetween gaming sessions. This set oozes more nostalgia than Jim's mate Snott, and I really hope we can make it a reality by rallying berhind lem.designs and getting the set over the line.

LEGO Ideas sets require creators to amass 10,000 votes before they can be put in front of a panel of judges. It's a little like X-Factor for the danish block-building world. So far, lem.designs has received 214 supporters in 5 days, meaning they have a further 420 days to get to the 1K mark. I reckon between us all, we can get them there in a week, and over the 10K line in a month!
