Evercade is renowned for creating a wide range of hardware and software for retro gamers, mostly known for releasing hundreds of new, modern cartridges of retro games for their handhelds and home consoles, such as the Evercade EXP and VS systems.
Their most recent piece of hardware was the Evercade Alpha, a bartop arcade cabinet that runs licensed games in a sleek, modern, yet nostalgic way.
As of yesterday, Evercade has teased their upcoming bit of kit, showcasing its new name: Nexus, in a social post, with a "coming soon" statement.

This small tease has their community thinking long and hard about what could be coming, and if I had to guess, I think it could be Evercade's first jab at creating an online, multiplayer-focused console/arcade cabinet that allows gamers to play with friends and family over the internet.
It doesn't sound too exciting because we've had online multiplayer for years, I know. But when you consider it could be a new way to play retro games, with phyiscal cartridges with your friends all around the world, then that's when my ears start to twitch.
Definition of Nexus: The word "nexus" refers to a connection, link, or tie between things. It can also describe a connected group or series of items, people or ideas.
It could be a home console, or it could be a larger-scale arcade cabinet that does that in some form, if I had to take a guess. The text on their landing page flickers too, as if an arcade cabinet light is turning on, but I may just be overthinking here!
But that said, there has been no official information as of yet, and the logo doesn't really reveal much. Evercade are asking gamers to subscribe to their newsletter to be the first to know, so I can imagine they will reveal this over the next few months.
