If you were ever in doubt as to whether the retro gaming community craves more titles like the GBC Pokémon offerings, then take a look at Dokimon: Quest. This game channels everything we loved about Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, as well as the 8-bit feel of the GBC's back catalogue, as a whole.

Some of you might have played Dokimon: Quest on Steam or even on Nintendo Switch as Doki Monsters: Quest, and now it's coming to iOS for iPhone users to download and play anytime, anywhere without bringing a console along for the ride.

Dokimon: Quest isn't a ROM hack; it's a new RPG from Yanako RPGs with a full 15+ hour story and 144 monsters to capture and train up along the way. There are two regions to tackle, with 9 players to choose from as you embark on a story to find your missing childhood friend.

It's got a feel of Dragonyhm meets Pokémon and Oracle of Ages/Seasons, which, as anyone who knows me will know, is a surefire winner in my book. Fight bad guys, train monsters, save the day - it's a format you're very familiar with, but with a twist that adds more RPG features than the standard Pokémon games.

Dokimon: Quest gives users the option of listening to an 8bit soundtrack or a Piano score, depending on their tastes, and also has a plethora of retro colour pallettes with over 20 to choose from.

The game arriving on iOS makes me think of my iPhone as an extension of my Game Boy even more, especially with accessories like the GameSir Pocket Taco and the 8BitDo FlipPad allowing us to get that retro handheld feel without carrying extra consoles in our pocket. It might also be the catalyst we need to get people off TikTok and back into handheld gaming, people who don't know about ROM hacks and downloading emulators.

The game is set to arrive on iOS as early as this week, so keep your eyes peeled here for more information as and when it arrives!
