Imagine uploading your first video on YouTube after working on your first project, and then checking a couple of days later to find out that you had over 11K subscribers. That's exactly what's happened to YouTuber and Game Dev BoxingBruin after uploading footage of them bringing Elden Ring to the N64.

BoxingBruin has wanted to make a game for the N64 for years, and after becoming obsessed with Tiny 3D and throwing himself into learning all about N64 development, he set his sights to creating an Elden Ring-esque boss fight with all of the mechanics of the Elden Ring that looks as though it had always belonged in an N64 game.

The challenge - creating the boss fight as part of a two-month long game jam. We're talking an Elden Ring boss fight from scratch (not FromSoftware).

I love everything about this video, including the little easter eggs to Boxing Bruin's other favourite games like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. 'Dawn of the First Month' is so obviously a Majora's Mask reference that it's instantly apparent how much he loves this console, something we share in common.

Boxing Bruin and his friend created everything from the character controls to the epic soundtrack that you can hear in the background of the battle. It's an incredible feat, and I would 100% have drooled over the visuals in this game in Nintendo Magazine as a kid back in the day.

You can grab the playable boss battle on GitHub now, and here's the best bit - it's designed to be played on original N64 hardware. In fact, the game only works on the N64 and the Ares emulator!

New fans of Pandemonium have taken to the comments section under the YouTube video to state their interest in seeing a full game in this style, with many saying that, like me, they would have gone wild for this title back in the 90s.

While we might not see any more of Pandemonium for a while, BoxingBruin is currently working on a game called Pickle64 that looks a little like 40 Winks meet Banjo-Kazooie, and you can join his Discord to find out more!
