Did Retroid Pocket Just Tease A New Vertical Handheld?

Retroid Pocket tease mysterious new vertical handheld

Retroid Pocket have teased their new Spring arrivals through the night with the Flip 2 taking center stage. It's hard not to immediately focus front-and-center on the changes that we've been hoping for in the clamshell emulator, but tear your eyes away for a second and look up to the mysterious-looking handheld at the back of the image. There's a second console coming out in the drop, and it's purposely been hidden.

First impressions are that it could either be one of two things - a vertical handheld designed to compete with the Analogue Pocket and the AYANEO Pocket DMG, or a clamshell emulator in the same vein as the GBA SP to compete with emulators like the Anbernic RG35XXSP. It's hard to tell whether that line is a hinge or whether it's part of the design at this point as the image is purposefully tricksy, but as Spring is just around the corner, we won't have long to wait.

This isn't the first time that Retroid Pocket have made cryptic teases to new handhelds. Can you remember back when they made a photoshopped image of their new device that pointed to an updated Retroid Pocket 2? They like to keep us confused like we're solving a puzzle in Dragonhym, and the fact that the face buttons are hidden in this new picture has us incredibly intrigued. While the Flip 2 might have stolen the show, it's this intriguing piece on the background that's living rent-free in our brains right now!
