Listen, it doesn't matter how powerful a Pokémon is or whether it can breathe fire; sometimes, all you want is a team of cute critters to follow you around.
One of the reasons we love Pokémon is that they remind us of cute little pets. Ok, I'm not saying that anyone bar Hagrid is looking at Rayquaza and thinking it's cute, but the monsters in this list are so precious that you'd want to pick them up and keep them in your pocket, which is what Pokémon is all about, after all.
Here are the cutest Pokémon in the series to add to your team. They might not win on HP or Sp. Attack, but they can hypnotise your opponents with their sweetness all day long!
Pombom

- Type: Fire
- Weight: 6.7kg
- Evolves: Unknown
- Generation: 10
Pombom has only just come into the world of Pokémon after being revealed as one of the starters in Pokémon Winds & Waves, and it's immediately become a firm fan favourite. I mean, just look at that face; it's not hard to see why, is it?
I don't mean to be harsh on the other starters, Browt and Gecqua, but Pombom definitely wins the top prize when it comes to cuteness. I think, like Tepig, its following evolutions might not be as cute, so it might be a case of keeping it in its base form for as long as possible. I could see myself beating the Champion with a Level 70 Pombom!
Togepi

- Type: Fairy
- Weight: 1.5kg
- Evolves: After Reaching High Friendship
- Generation: 2
Togepi has remained one of the cutest critters since the early days of the anime, bringing a hit of dopamine with it every time it arrived on our screens.
Togepi actually releases positive energy whenever it's around too, so it's actively making people happy with its cuteness. It stores up positivity in its shell and then sends it out when people are feeling a little glum. If that doesn't make it a cute Pokémon, then I don't know what does!
Tepig

- Type: Fire
- Weight: 9.9kg
- Evolves: Level 17
- Generation: 5
Tepig is the cutest pig around. Whenever I see that little tail and that smile, I can't help but feel better. At 9.9KG, it's not something I would want to be carrying around with me all day, but I could get used to him following me around when I went to the shops or on hikes for sure.
For a pig that shoots fireballs from its nose, Tepig certainly looks like butter wouldn't melt when it's around... which is, of course, not true, because Tepig is a Fire-type!
Audino

- Type: Normal
- Weight: 31kg
- Evolves: N/A
- Generation: 5
Audino has such an amazing temperament and an expression that just makes you feel at ease. It uses the feelers on its ears to touch people and find out how they're feeling from their heartbeats. It's not just pink and cute, it's also one of the most caring Pokémon you'll come across, too!
Mantyke

- Type: Water/Flying
- Weight: 65kg
- Evolves: With Remoraid In Your Party
- Generation: 4
Mantyke is one of the cutest critters in the sea. It hangs out with schools of Remoraid, so it clearly feels the need to be around others a lot of the time which only adds to its cuteness.
Manta Rays are some of the most amazing creatures on Earth, and they're very graceful too. A Pokémon like Mantyke who loves humans so much, that's also based on such an elegant, creature was always going to feature in this list!
Cubchoo

- Type: Ice
- Weight: 8.5kg
- Evolves: Level 37
- Generation: 5
A teddy bear-esque Pokémon with giant eyes and a runny nose - it's like the Pokémon designers just said, 'how can we make this one as cute as possible?' It's true that it reminds me a little of that annoying brat with the runny nose from Outset Island in The Wind Waker, but everyone loves bears, so I'll let it off.
Here's a fact for you - If a Cubchoo is sick, its runny nose disappears, so when you see a Cubchoo with a runny nose, it is a sign of a healthy and fit Pokémon.
Jirachi

- Type: Steel/Psychic
- Weight: 1.1kg
- Evolves: N/A
- Generation: 3
Jirachi is a mysterious creature that has a lot of rumours surrounding it. Some say that it can make any wish written on its head come true, and that it can fight without even waking up by using its psychic powers. Others say that it will wake up after sleeping for thousands of years when it hears a voice of absolute purity.
All I know is that it's a cute little thing that only weighs 1.1kg, which means you could do the weekly shop with one sitting on your shoulder and have a whale of a time, especially if it's making all my wishes come true by making my shopping free. Result!
Sprigatito

- Type: Grass
- Weight: 4.1kg
- Evolves: Level 16
- Generation: 9
Sprigatito made cat lovers everywhere rejoice. Meowth was cute, but Sprigatito knocked it out of the park! It's a marketing miracle, selling Pokémon to people who just love cute things, and is probably responsible for cats being named 'Spriggy' the world over.
Piplup

- Type: Water
- Weight: 5.2kg
- Evolves: Level 16
- Generation: 4
Piplup is my best friend in Pokopia. He follows me around wherever I go on Bleak Beach, and he was the first resident I built a house for after helping me clean everything up. He's such a positive dude and just has that cute expectant look on his face like a little kid waiting for a cuddle.
I think Penguins are always cute, especially baby ones. The fact that he's so small and looks a little like he might wobble over also adds to his cuteness - yeah, I want one!
Fuecoco

- Type: Fire
- Weight: 9.8kg
- Evolves: Level 16
- Generation: 9
A crocodile that's a Fire-type Pokémon? I know, it's wild, isn't it, but there it is! The fact that it also has two twigs on its head that make it look like a bell pepper makes it even cuter.
I think one thing I'm realising is that a Pokémon is cute when it has a big smile. It's even cuter when they have just a couple of teeth and short arms too. Things go downhill for Fuecoco after Level 16, so enjoy its cuteness while you can!
Minccino

- Type: Normal
- Weight: 5.8kg
- Evolves: Using Shiny Stone
- Generation: 5
Another Pokopia favourite of mine is Minccino. He's just one of those guys who just always looks happy to see me whenever I'm wandering around, and whenever I ask him for something, he just cracks on and does it without complaining, unlike Gloom, who always seems to have a problem.
Minccino greet each other by rubbing their tails, they like to keep the place tidy, and they have huge eyes that make you want to cuddle them immediately. What's not to love!
Cutiefly

- Type: Bug/Fairy
- Weight: 0.2kg
- Evolves: Level 25
- Generation: 7
I guess with 'cute' in its name, Cutiefly was always going to feature in this list. This Pokémon has such a lovely design; it's probably the most harmless-looking critter in the entire Pokédex (other than Snom, but we'll get to him soon).
A Cutiefly can't tell between flowers and other creatures - they just gather wherever happiness is. I mean, how cute is that! They actively champion cuteness in the entire world of Pokémon and add to it with their presence.
Yamper

- Type: Electric
- Weight: 13.5kg
- Evolves: Level 25
- Generation: 8
Brandon asked me to put Yamper in here because it's his favourite Pokémon, and you know what, I wasn't angry about it. Brandon has a corgi called Pippin, so he was always going to be drawn to a corgi-like critter, but Yamper has such positive, playful energy that anyone would find it adorable.
It's described as a gluttonous Pokémon that only does things for treats. Hey, aren't we all!
Shaymin (Land Forme)

- Type: Grass
- Weight: 2.1kg
- Evolves: N/A
- Generation: 4
Shaymin is definitely cuter in its Land Forme than its Sky Forme. It looks like a little grassy hedgehog with a pink flower on its head - that's the epitome of cute in my book!
It delivers feelings of gratitude, it dissolves toxins in the air to make areas cleaner and fills them with flowers, and it curls up in a ball to look like a flower to avoid fighting. Someone just give this thing a cuddle already!
Pikachu

- Type: Electric
- Weight: 6.0kg
- Evolves: Using Thunder Stone
- Generation: 1
We couldn't have a list of cute Pokémon without having Pikachu in it now, could we? He's one of the most well-known critters in the entire series and has become the poster-mon for the brand.
We all still think about the story of Ash Ketchum and the bond with his beloved Pikachu, the moments they shared through the anime, and all the adventures they got up to. Pikachu is the creature that made us fall in love with Pokémon in the first place, so I'd say he's earned his place in this list.
Marill

- Type: Water/Fairy
- Weight: 8.5kg
- Evolves: Level 18
- Generation: 2
Arms open, eyes wide, big ears, big round body - Marill could be the Pokémon most like a stuffed animal that I've come across. It's just so cuddly to look at, and I'm a grown man with adult responsibilities saying this.
Like Minccino, I think the 'mouse aesthetic' definitely makes for extra cuteness. If I saw one of these jumping up towards me, I would feel very excited!
Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix

- Type: Fire ~ Alolan: Ice
- Weight: 9.9kg
- Evolves: Using Fire/Ice Stone
- Generation: 1/7
Vulpix is one of the original 151 Pokémon and also a Pokémon whose design has been considered cute by Poké fans of every age. It has become a fan favourite since it started to get screen time in the Pokémon anime.
And as if the original Vulpix wasn’t cute enough, the Alola region introduced us to the Alolan Form of Vulpix, which looks heavenly. The white colour really suits it, and it looks like something you might find in a princess movie!
Eevee

- Type: Normal (changes when evolved)
- Weight: 6.5kg
- Evolves: Using Different Stones/High Friendship/Learning Fairy-type Moves
- Generation: Multiple
Eevee and all of its eeveelutions are up next. It's cute as it is, and having all of that choice for its different evolutions makes it even more enticing to trainers.
Depending upon the 'eevolution' you like, you can evolve your Eevee into it using a proper evolution item. Each of the Eevolutions has its own specific traits and qualities, but if I had to pick my favourite, it would be Umbreon!
Dratini

- Type: Dragon
- Weight: 3.3kg
- Evolves: Level 30
- Generation: 1
The OG dragon Pokémon evolves from this slender little Pokémon known as Dratini. It has been a part of the Pokémon franchise since its inception and was revered as one of the rarest and strongest Pokémon in the game.
The serpent-like body gives Dratini a distinct look in the franchise; there aren’t many Pokémon like it in the game except for Milotic. Plus, its colorway is also loved by fans, and the fish-like fins for ears that Dratini has make it look like a baby dragon.
Joltik

- Type: Bug/Electric
- Weight: 0.6kg
- Evolves: Level 36
- Generation: 5
Right, I'm going to be honest with you - I don't like spiders. Spiders aren't necessarily cute, unless they're jumping spiders (and that's pushing it). But Joltik is a Pokémon that, despite being an arachnid, still manages to look adorable.
Joltiks are super small (0.1m), they're fluffy and yellow, and they could fit in the palm of your hand. I love their little contrasting blue eyes and feet too!
Riolu

- Type: Fighting
- Weight: 20.2kg
- Evolves: High Friendship (Daytime)
- Generation: 4
Everyone loves Lucario, and Riolu is the base form of the legendary fighting critter. It's bipedal, it can punch through steel, and it's a puppy. I don't really need to write anything else, do I?
I think one of the things that makes Riolu look cute is the fact that you can tell it's still in training. It's got a lot to learn, which makes it literally an underdog.
Spheal

- Type: Ice/Water
- Weight: 39.5kg
- Evolves: Level 32
- Generation: 3
Spheal is without a doubt the chubbiest Pokémon you’ve ever laid eyes on. It looks like a giant blue ball with two teeth coming out. It can’t swim; it just floats aimlessly around. That makes me feel a little sorry for it, but he looks happy enough!
Pachirisu

- Type: Electric
- Weight: 3.9kg
- Evolves: N/A
- Generation: 4
Pacharisu's design might be Pikachu-esque, but he's an adorable little critter that you don't need to ask, 'is it a squirrel or a mouse?'. It doesn't evolve, meaning it'll stay this small forever, and it makes electric fur balls that it stores inside trees. It also looks surprised 24/7!
Snom

- Type: Ice/Bug
- Weight: 3.8kg
- Evolves: High Friendship (Nightime)
- Generation: 8
For the longest time, I thought that Snom was a creature with an icicle head and was always lying on its front with its legs and bum out. Then I saw the little black eye and had to redefine everything I knew about it.
Snom is a worm Pokémon that transforms into Frosmoth. It slides about eating snow and (now I know where its face is) has a cute, docile expression. It's hard to believe that this little worm becomes such a majestic moth, but I guess you shouldn't judge a book by its icicle cover, huh?
Wooper

- Type: Water/Ground
- Weight: 8.5kg
- Evolves: Level 20
- Generation: 2
Wooper looks kind of like an Axelotyl, which we all know is one of the cutest creatures of all time. At 0.4m, it's a little monster with a pretty shocked expression, which is what you'll have if you touch one.
Woopers have poisonous films on their skin which can cause shooting pains if you touch them. It might look cute, but it's not something you'd want to have as a pet unless you have a strong pair of gloves!
