That's right, as John Cena is set to depart Netflix when he retires from wrestling, another jorts-wearing icon is set to take his place. Crash Bandicoot is coming to your screens in a new animated series on Netflix, a project that the studio behind Sonic Prime has been quietly working on in the background right under our noses!

Crash Bandicoot needs no introduction; a PS1 legend created by Naughty Dog who helped to send the console to incredible heights through the 90s. He's the reason many people want to get retro handhelds to replay the classic games from their childhoods, and the argument over whether Crash Team Racing is better than Mario Kart is still one that gamers are debating decades later.

According to What's On Netflix, WildBrain Studios are the brains behind bringing Crash, Coco, and Aku-Aku to your screens one more. There are no details as to what the storyline might be or who might be voicing Crash yet, but hopefully those details will arrive soon. Personally, I'd love Andy Samberg to do it, but Rhys Darby also did an amazing job when he voiced Crash in a guest appearance on the third season of Skylanders, so that could be a great shout!

The fact that Netflix is working with WildBrain currently on a Minecraft series after the success of Sonic Prime gives me great hope for the Crash Bandicoot series. Heck, with Mario and Sonic making waves on Netflix and in the cinema with their movies and the Harry Potter series being given a reboot, all of this makes me feel like I'm back in the 90s. And you know what, I'm fine with it!
