You read that right folks – some of your favourite classic original Xbox games and best Xbox 360 games might be heading onto iPhone incredibly soon.

Can you imagine that! Playing Halo 2, Beyond Good & Evil, and Fable on your iPhone in-between sorting out chats on Teams and getting Harry Potter reels from your girlfriend?

Oddly specific I know, but this is my life.

Xbox users have been floating on Cloud 9 for a while now thanks to Microsoft’s gaming cloud allowing them to play their favourite titles on their phones, but we’ve not actually had news of an official store until now.

To take a leaf out of Master Yoda’s book, ‘the hints are strong with Microsoft’ right now.

They’re dropping pretty heavy tidbits for us about the fact that an iOS store could be just around the corner, proving that they are still 100% open to working with everyone else other than Sony right about now.

Xbox On The App Store

I know what you’re thinking; how come Apple are letting someone else put some games on their precious store. Their App Store has felt a lot like an elitist club for many years, and to be honest, it’s annoyed me a little ever since they took away the 12 Days of Christmas freebie selection.

Well, Apple doesn’t really want to open its doors up to other people – the EU has said that they have to curb the steep charges they slaps of 30% onto in-app purchases to make a bit of extra cash (not that they need it!).

That’s right; according to T3, from 2024, Apple has to allow Third-Party App Purchasing, and that means that Microsoft can step in and start offering products through Apples devices.

Personally, I’m excited about having some of my favourite old Xbox games on my phone. I mean, I don’t really use Apple Arcade and I’ve not played a game properly on my phone for a long time since the Switch came out, so this would be a nice change.

It would also help to keep the Xbox’s back catalogue alive for new generations too, and that can’t be a bad thing, right?

Kids playing Midnight Club 3 instead of doing Geography class can’t hurt…

What do you guys think? Would you enjoy playing some of the best original Xbox games of all time on your phone on the bus or while in a meeting?

I guess the battery life of your iPhone will depend on whether you can actually cope with beating seven bells of hell out of someone on Dead or Alive 3, but we’re still excited to have a bash on some old titles in-between calls!
