I love alternative album releases, especially when bands use retro media to release their music on. It's one of the reasons we loved sitting down with German Techno artist Remute and discovering how and why he likes releasing his albums for retro consoles like the SNES and the Panasonic 3DO. And now, a pop-punk band (I of all people know it wasn't a phase) from the United Kingdom has released their debut album on a GBA cart as part of a rhythm-based game.
Pillow Fort, based in Nottingham, UK, have planned to release their debut album on Bandcamp via a digital release, vinyl LP, tape cassette, and a Game Boy Advance game, and while I collect vinyl and love the look of the LP, it's the fact that the band have released the music on the album as a soundtrack to a rhythm-based game that has me feeling pretty excited.

'We've developed a rhythm game for the GBA featuring all the songs on the album!' says Pillow Fort on Bandcamp. '[It] includes the cartridge and box. Just be aware, this is a *surprisingly* difficult game!
The game box artwork is the same as the vinyl release but features the person on the front in a pixelated 32-bit style. The game box also says that it's made by Cushion Castle which is a nice touch. It will be limited to 30 physical copies, but a digital version of the game will also be available.
The band's album 'Indefinite, but not forever,' which features a song called 'Robots vs Wrestlers' (these guys rule!), releases this October. Head to Bandcamp to put in an order, and thanks to Time Extension for sharing the news!
