Capcom & Kess Entertainment Launching New Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Legends Board Game

If you’re here on Retro Dodo right now, then you probably love video games as much as we do. You’re probably thinking about grabbing your Game Boy right now or that N64 game you bought when you were on holiday because you stumbled across a sale. You’ll also know that, as time goes on, you find less time to play video games because other commitments creep in. At one age or another, we’ve all had the call to ‘turn the computer off and enjoy family game night’.

Well, what if I told you that you could essentially trick your whole family and bring computer game action to family game night all without turning a console on? Have I got your attention? Good, because this Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Legends board game from Capcom and Kess Games is something you’ll be throwing your money at on release day!

This cooperative board game is set to provide a fight (probably unfair if board games with family are anything to go by) for up to 4 players. According to Board Game Geek who have seen some ‘subject to change’ promotional material for the game, you’ll take on the persona of your favourite fighter from the series and work together to fight bosses and upgrade characters. Essentially, it’s all the fun of an RPG without the screen, so you can still get your gaming fix without even turning the TV on.

Created by Mitch Schroeder, the artwork looks sensational. I can just imagine diving into the modular decks and pulling out special moves like I was in the middle of a Yu-Gi-Oh duel, all while sitting around the table with the family and looking at their confused faces as I covet the rule book like it was an ancient scroll. Looking at the image above, it looks like there might be scope to get artistic with your figurines too, and get to work with brush and paint. How are your Warhammer painting skills?

You might also remember the Sonic Roll board game we covered back in December, another epic creation from Kess Games that even comes in a box that looks just like a Sega Genesis/Mega Drive game. We don’t tend to dive into board games too often here at Retro Dodo, but these have just been too good to ignore!

As of now, we don’t have any more information on the Street Fighter V: Champion Edition Legends board game, but I thought you might enjoy seeing a little teaser of what to expect once the official press release drops! As always, we’ll tell you more news when we get it!
