Last month I sat in this very chair and reported the fact that beloved Akihabara retro gaming store BEEP was having to move after 'secret' reports that their building was being demolished. BEEP remains one of the main reasons that people travel to Akihabara from across Japan and indeed across the globe, a second-hand gaming Valhalla at the end of a retro pilgrimage.
We wondered whether BEEP would have to close its doors for good or whether it would find a new home somewhere else in Akihabara. And today, they have shown off their new shop front, stating that 'The sign is finally up' in a new post on X.

I know what you're thinking - that looks like it's going to be a lot less cramped. The old store was great, but it was on basement level, and there wasn't really enough room to swing a cat in there (just an expression!).
One X user has stated that the new store can be reached by leaving the Electric Town Exit of Akihabara Station toward the UDX side, across from Kanda Fire Station. The area seems to not be one that gets a lot of footfall as it's not in the midst of the jumble of second-hand gaming sh0ps that makes Akihabara so iconic, but that could all be about to change with BEEP's relocation.
A bigger store gives BEEP the chance to offer an incredible experience for its customers, many of who have taken to X to show their excitement about the new location and that they'll be visiting soon. I know that when we next arrive in Akihabara, it'll be the first place that we'll be visiting!
Good luck with everything, BEEP, and we'll see you soon!
