One of my favourite AYANEO handhelds of the past is the Pocket Micro Classic, a premium GBA-focused retro handheld built with premium materials such as glass and metal, alongside sleek, minimal button layouts and a beyond stunning screen that can emulate GBA games in 4x pixel perfect native resolution.
It's a beautiful pocket-friendly device that in my opinion doesn't need any upgrades, but AYANEO thinks otherwise, recently teasing the Pocket Micro 2 on their social channels. But the official reveal will come in a AYANEO livestream on the 26th June states their recent X post.

They've kept images and announcements to a minimum over the last few days but the recent post shares a few bits of information. The first being a USB Type-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a built in microphone. The 3.5m headphone jack is a new feature and one many (including us) wanted in the original that released in 2024.
A few days ago AYANEO also announced that the Pocket Micro 2 will feature a larger 3,950MAH battery capacity which is a huge upgraded in comparison to the smaller 2,600MAH capacity the original had. It will also have a Snapdragon CPU, which will likely be able to power more than the previous Helio G99 CPU.
And this is where I have some issues as the only reason it would need more power is if it has a bigger display and analogue sticks, but that would counter the "Micro" in its name and it would compete with other AYANEO handhelds on the market such as the Pocket Air Mini and Pocket S Mini.
I say this because AYANEO have stated that this will have "Enhanced ergonomics, great performance and more comfortable controls" making me believe this is going to be a bigger change than anticipated. All will be revealed in the coming days!
