ANBERNIC 's RG DDS has gathered a lot of attention recently, likely due to the fact that it looks nearly identical to a Nintendo 3DS, even adding in a stylus, but also because ANBERNIC showed off some gameplay footage recently, revealing that it can not only emulate 3DS games at 5x native resolution, but it can also emulate PS2, PS3 and even XBOX games too.
This is new territory for ANBERNIC, and it's clear that they want the RG DDS to be their flagship device, packing it with as much power as they can while maintaining the 3DS form factor, which in itself is likely quite challenging.
ANBERNIC has uploaded a listing of the RG DDS to AliExpress, revealing all of the specifications, pricing, release date, shipping date and pre-order date, giving us a real sense of what market they're entering and how powerful this will actually be, so let me fill you in with the details.
ANBERNIC RG DDS Specifications

- Top Display: 4.7-inch IPS, 1200 × 720, 5:3, 300 PPI, 500 nits
- Bottom Display: 4-inch IPS, 960 × 720, 4:3, 300 PPI, 500 nits
- CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 (SG6275P), 4 nm
- GPU: Qualcomm Adreno A22
- RAM/Storage: 8 GB + 128 GB or 12 GB + 256 GB
- OS: Android 16
- Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4
- Battery: 6000 mAh (up to 27W Charging)
- Others: Dual Speakers, 3.5mm Headphone Jack, 6-axis Gyro, AI Translation

These specifications are pretty good on paper, and were somewhat expected considering the gameplay footage that has come out of ANBERNIC's social channels, and the displays are perfect for 3DS upscaling up to 3x. I am interested to hear how this sounds when emulating the larger games; a part of me believes this will sound like a small Harrier jet, but only time will tell. We'll get one in to review for you in the coming weeks.
ANBERNIC RG DDS Pricing

So, according to ANBERNIC's AliExpress listing, the RG DDS will retail for $299.99 - $364.99, with an upcoming early bird discount of $15, taking the price down to $284.99 and $349.99 for either of the 8GB RAM or 12GB RAM versions. This will likely be the same for their official website too once it launches over there.
These are some hefty price tags for sure, and suprisingly it outprices the Retroid Pocket Duo, which it is competing with directly, and even competing with the AYN Thor, which, as we know, thousands of retro gamers already have, so this needs to do some magical things internally to get users to switch, or choose the RG DDS over its competitors. This will become one of ANBERNIC's most expensive devices ever made.
Pre-Order Date, Release Date & Shipping Times

Pre-orders will begin on October 16th at 18:00 Beijing time, which is tomorrow for many of you reading, and shipping will begin on December 10th, with a goal of completing all pre-orders by January 31st 2027, which is a fairly long shipping time, but it seems a lot of companies are having delays in this area, especially Retroid, so I'd rather they be honest than not here. Though the issue I see is many will want to buy this as a Christmas gift, but it's likely it won't arrive by then considering it usually takes 7 - 14 days for them to arrive overseas, sometimes even longer, and that's if they ship your unit in the first few days.
The colour choices available are Basalt Black, Glacier White and Phantom Blue, all available in both RAM choices. So, what are your thoughts? Will you be making an order tomorrow, waiting for reviews or taking a look at something different on the market?
