It was only a few weeks ago when the ANBERNIC RG DS Plus landed on our desk, which turned out to be a great sub-$100 dual-screen handheld, even if it wasn't capable of Nintendo 3DS emulation, nor did it have an Android operating system. Now, there's another new dual-screen handheld being released by ANBERNIC, making it their third in a year.
The RG DDS is their "flagship" device, with more power than the rest, and likely packed with some decent specifications and a hefty price upon release, though at this moment in time no official specifications have been announced; from their latest video, it shows pretty good Nintendo 3DS emulation, making me believe it will indeed pack a punch... because it has to.
ANBERNIC's gameplay footage is even showing some 3DS games such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D emulating at 5x native resolution, which is impressive to say the least, especially on a device of this size, thickness, and form factor. If you get to the 2:39 mark of the video, it even shows ANBERNIC showing off PS3 emulation using ARMSX3, which I think may be one of the first times ANBERNIC has shown that off in a handheld video, teasing us with its potential power.
They even tease some XBOX footage too using the newer, and somewhat unreliable X1 BOX emulator for Android, so it feels like to me that ANBERNIC really want to make this a serious device, likely to compete with the Retroid Pocket Duo and AYN Thor. They just need to get the price point right, which we'll inform you of when its announced. The best way to stay informed is by subscribing to our free weekly newsletter!
