Forget the 3DS; it's all about 'DDS', Anbernic's new flagship 'Dream Dual Screen' handheld. It's the 3DS through and through, just without the actual 3D element, giving you a recognisable handheld that you can use all that muscle memory you built up playing Mario Kart 7 and A Link Between Worlds.
Ok, it's exactly like the 3DS, albeit for the extra thumbstick on the right-hand side under the action buttons. The shape is the same, the speaker grills are the same, and the action buttons on the white console in the middle are exactly the same as the white New 3DS model. All of the colours are designed to mimic the New Nintendo 3DS colours for maximum nostalgia... I can't quite believe this is allowed!

Here's a list of all the specs revealed so far:
ANBERNIC RG DDS revealed: - Top screen 4.7" 5:3 1200x720, bottom screen 4" 4:3 960x720 - True 3x integer scale 3DS displays (same aspect ratio) - Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 - Adreno A22 (Adreno 735 equivalent), Turnip supported - 6000mAh battery - Integrated extendable stylus - Front firing speakers and new vibration engine - Available in blue, white and black

The DDS has the exact same aspect ratio as the New 3DS and uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 chipset, mid-tier but very capable, likely built to compete with the AYN Thor if those specifications are correct. The screens are smaller than the Retroid Pocket Lite, but for anyone wanting a like-for-like with the original 3DS, this won't matter. Obviously, as the name and look of the console reveal, this is going to be able to cope with 3DS and DS games perfectly. I would imagine it will be fine with more demanding games too, possibly even some of the less demanding Switch games.
The RG DDS has lots of different parameters you can pull up on the bottom screen, to the point where it looks like you're controlling the Starship Enterprise. The interface does look very 'DS-like with a touch of Apple's UX thrown in' which will please fans of Nintendo's hardware, and it can all be controlled with an extendable stylus that slots into the bottom of the console.

Weirdly, there's an AI button on this console too, just above the X button in the picture above. I don't know why we need an AI button on here - is it going to pull up guides to games? Is it going to make games? Is it going to help you cheat your way through stuff? It's unnecessary to me, and I'll probably just put some tape over mine, but there it is.

As of this moment, I don't have any information about when it might release or what the price might be, but with those specs, I think we can expect it to come in around the same price as the Retroid Pocket Lite, if not just a little over. Keep your eyes peeled for more info here as I get it!
