Along with yesterday’s announcement about the pre-order for the Analogue Duo, Analogue also reiterated the availability of their PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 Analogue Pocket adapters.
Of course, this is not entirely new, as those adapters have been available for pre-order since last year. But much like the Pocket itself, these are still something you have to pre-order and wait a bit to receive.
However, this could still be exciting for those who still use the Analogue Pocket as it was intended: paired with original game cartridges. Especially the PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16 fans who are looking to purchase a new Duo home console as a companion to the Pocket.
Now those HuCards can be put to use in a beautiful mobile game console AND a home console. Something Hudson Soft surely never anticipated.
If you hope to go all in on your PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 setup, there has never been a better time to get your order in with Analogue.
Purchase Information
The PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 adapter is available for pre-order in Analogue’s Pocket Adapter Set, which also includes their Neo Geo Pocket Color and Atari Lynx adapters.
There has been no mention of being able to purchase the PC Engine / TG-16 adapter on its own, however.
The set of three is available right now as a pre-order item at $99.99USD.
That’s six systems compatible with that entire set:
- Pocket Adapter 02: Neo Geo Pocket Neo Geo Pocket Color
- Pocket Adapter 03: Atari Lynx
- Pocket Adapter 04: TurboGrafx-16 PC Engine SuperGrafx
The PC Engine / TG-16 Analogue Pocket adapters are compatible with the entire 16-bit library of TurboGrafx-16, PC Engine & SuperGrafx games.
It might be hard to justify spending that money and waiting when the Analogue Pocket has been unlocked to allow for some of the best FPGA emulation out there. We can now just run games from a large range of consoles through the SD card slot.
However, we do know there are some purists out there who still hold strong to original game media, and are not interested in FPGA emulation.
We surely support those hardcore retro fans who still actually use original game cartridges and are keeping the legacy alive, and we’re definitely putting in an order for these too!
