If ever there was a time to give a warning for your wallet, it's now. Pokémon is one of our vices, and when it comes to spending money on anything Pokémon-related, we just seem to lose all sense of reality. That's even more so when you present a 24-disc movie collection in a huge Poké Ball - at this point, we're basically giving The Pokémon Company our credit card details and telling them to do their worst.
24 Pokémon movies following Ash and his friends on a journey to catch 'em all and become the very best, like no one ever was. Pokémon movies have defined my childhood, so much so that I can still remember the exact day and time I went to see the very first movie (cheers for the invite to your birthday party, Andy!) and learned about Mewtwo's origins. Travelling to the different regions I was playing on the games at the time and seeing them on the big screen was incredible. Even now as an adult, seeing Ash in the Forest of Okoya in the Netflix film Pokèmon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle takes me right back to that birthday outing to the Cinema.
The case is awesome; instead of one Pokémon coming out of a Poké Ball, you're getting 24 nostalgic blasts from the past jumping out at you (not literally; the discs are numbered and in a binder).
As I said in the title, the discs are all Blu-ray, so if you own a PS5 or an Xbox Series X, you'll be able to just stick 'em straight in without needing to buy an extra Blu-ray player. The total run time for all the films is a whopping 36 hours and 41 minutes, and while there's no current release date (Amazon says 2099!), you can pre-order them to make sure that you get the set straight away on release day.
The price, however, might be a bit of a sticking point for many people (including me, to be honest, and I know what I said at the start of this article - I'm a changed man). The set is priced at $399.99, or $33.33 for 12 months. That works out at $16.67 per movie, which I suppose isn't that bad if you're going to watch them again and again, especially considering you'll actually own them and not have to worry about them being deleted from your system later down the line!
