Digimon World for PlayStation 1 was hands down one of the best Digimon games ever made, selling over 1,000,000 units on the console and still, to this day, is one that is highly recommended by retro gamers who want to explore Digimon at its peak. And unfortunately Bandai has not given any of the old PS1 games a remaster or remake, so a fan took it upon himself to do just that.
A new remake of Digimon World for PlayStation 1 is in development, being called Digimon World Forge. This new remake will have HD and widescreen graphics, over 150 new Digimon, 34 new Megas, new tournaments, two -player battles, two single-player modes (Vanilla or Eremenko) offering not one, not two, not three, but four different difficulties for those that want a serious challenge.
There will also be the addition of challenges, such as Nuzlocke, one life, and more. You can even change the graphics to your liking, with AI-upscaling, added CRT filters and even hybrid models depending on what level of crispiness you prefer. Many of the evolution scenes are completely remade too to offer a unique experience; you can hatch eggs too, which have the designs taken straight from Digimon World: Next Order.
As of now, there is no official release date, just a trailer that was uploaded to the Digimon World Forge YouTube channel this week. It states "coming soon", but if I had to bet, that likely means sometime in 2027, although it looks like the development of the game is almost done if the trailer is anything to go by. It's also worth noting that this game has been developed with the assistance of AI. We'll keep you updated with more information when we see it.
