There has never been a better time to be a Sonic the Hedgehog fan, which is odd as he’s had a heck of a long career since he first appeared in Rad Mobile back in 1991. It seems like our childhoods are coming back around all over again; pagers are making a comeback, there’s a new N64 on the block, and Sonic is as big a name now as he’s ever been, with his movies pulling in new audiences all over the globe and Keanu Reeve’s Shadow the Hedgehog taking the media by storm.
You might not have had an invitation, but there was a recent official Sonic The Hedgehog fan meet-up in Jakarta, Indonesia. The producer of Sonic X Shadow Generations Shun Nakamura was asked by fans about some of their favourite Sonic titles from recent years being remade for next-gen consoles. If you’re a fan of the 2006 Sonic The Hedgehog referred to as ‘Sonic 06’ by fans of the blue blur, then you’ll be pleased to know that he’s previously mentioned he’d like to remake it for modern audiences.
@KazuyukiHoshino, @Nakamura_ShunR, and Katsuyuki Shigihara joined the official Sonic fanmeeting in Jakarta, Indonesia for a Q&A panel.

The comment in question which is shown on the right-hand corner block in the embedded @TailsChannel Tweet above states that when Nakamura was asked if Sonic Team had plans for a remaster or remake of any old Sonic games, he said that old and new games remain appealing to the team. The post goes on to reiterate his desire to remake Sonic 06.
It’s something that many fans have wanted for years now, mainly to improve on a formula that had potential but wasn’t executed properly. The game is generally considered to be a mish-mash of poor design choices and camera angles, as well as that odd business with Sonic and Princess Elise (what about Amy, Sonic, WHAT ABOUT AMY?). If they could give the game the love it deserves and spend some time properly remaking it and getting a good harmony between level and character design as well as sorting out that annoying camera that can’t keep up with the characters, then it would make the game much more enjoyable and finally let it achieve its potential.
