If someone were to make a new series of mini Sega consoles, you would expect it to be Sega, right? That’s what I would have thought in any case, but it’s Square Enix who has released some new miniature collectibles of the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and Sega Saturn. Made from diecast materials, hand-painted, and complete withtiny controllers, these replicas are amazing representations of Sega’s legendary back catalogue and take me back to a time of staying up all night to play Sonic as a kid.
At 3″ in size, they would look good either on your desk or hanging from your Christmas Tree. Unlike Wesk Mods’ tiny creations, however, these consoles won’t be playing any of your favourite games. They’re purely for decorative purposes only, nothing more. Still, if you live and breathe Sega, then they’re definitely something you could put on your Christmas or Birthday list as a nice stocking filler.
This isn’t actually the first set of mini Sega consoles that Square Enix has released; they had a shiny Dreamcast miniature a while back that has been sold out for a while but one that I really want to grab now I’ve seen it! The miniature consoles will cost $44 each and will ship in July 2025 according to GameSpot. If you know a Sega fan and are thinking about buying them a gift for an event sometime next year, then keep an eye out for them coming into stock!
